When Clarity rules
Ever feel you have something important to say, but have too many competing thoughts that are disabling you from communicating with clarity?
You aren’t alone. Our brains have a gazillion tabs open that make it hard to declutter and focus on what matters.
The problem: When we speak before separating the wheat from the chaff, we risk confusing our audience. And when we confuse our audience, we lose our audience.
The good news: Clarity in communication is not something you’re either born with or doomed to never have. It’s a skill you can build and hone. Here are three quick pointers to get you started:
➡️ 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 - then listen back to them a few days later: Clarity starts when hearing what’s in the way of it straight from the horse’s mouth.
➡️ 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂: Break down your thoughts into keywords and use them as your hooks as you connect the dots.
➡️ 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 – 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆. Don’t waste time trying to speak fancy. Go with your natural speaking style. It’s where simplicity resides and clarity can thrive.
